COLUMBUS – No. 3 Columbus State University Women's Soccer travels to Aiken, S.C. for a road contest at USC Aiken on Saturday afternoon, continuing Peach Belt Conference play.
The Lady Cougars (10-0-1, 4-0-0 PBC) visit the "Pacer Pit" on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. ET kickoff, taking on a Pacers (2-8-2, 1-4-0 PBC) side who hasn't seen many positive results fall their way this season.
Historically, Columbus State has an undefeated record against USC Aiken with a perfect 21-0 record. A season ago, the Lady Cougars defeated the Pacers 9-1 at the Walden Soccer Complex. Columbus State is coming off a tight 1-0 victory over Clayton State (Ga.) on Wednesday evening while USC Aiken is returning to play after a 2-0 loss at Flagler (Fla.) on Wednesday.
USC Aiken has won just twice this season, once being against PBC foe Albany State (Ga.). The Pacers have totaled 11 goals this season and are led offensively by Brooke Morrison who has totaled four goals. Brooke Salerno has tallied two goals for second on the team followed by Avery List with a goal and two assists.
Defensively, the Pacers have given up 26 goals to their opponents for an average of 2.17 goals per game. In goal, Kaydence Moore has tallied nearly 1,000 minutes, making 11 starts. Moore has totaled 60 saves this season, allowing 24 goals.
Columbus State remains as one of the top DII statistical leaders in offensive production. The Lady Cougars continue to lead as the top team in total goals (57), total assists (37), total points (151), goals per game (5.18), shots per game (24.5), and shots on goal per game (13.4).
Emma Beddow remains the leading lady with 22 total points this season with a team-leading seven goals and eight assists. She ranks tied for third in DII in total assists. The duo of
Michelle Medina and
Ui Suzuki are second on the team with 13 points each, both scoring six goals and assisting one.
A total of seven Lady Cougars have tallied double-digit point while nine student-athletes have scored four or more goals for the red and blue. CSU has outscored their opponents 57-7 this season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Columbus State has held opponents to just seven goals, allowing 6.8 shots per game. The Lady Cougars have produced six shutouts this season and have not given up more than two goals in a match. CSU has also held opponents to single digit shots in seven matches.
