Georgia Southwestern Visits No. 2 Lady Cougars at the Walden Soccer Complex on Wednesday

CSU hosts Georgia Southwestern for Pink Out and Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night

COLUMBUS – No. 2 Columbus State University Women's Soccer welcomes Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday evening at the Walden Soccer Complex.
 
The Lady Cougars (11-0-1, 5-0-0 PBC) host the Canes (6-5-0, 4-2-0 PBC) for a 6 p.m. ET kick in Columbus for both Pink Out and Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.
 
Both programs have met 18 times prior to Wednesday's clash with Columbus State winning every meeting. A season ago, CSU took a 2-0 win over GSW in Americus, Ga.
 
Georgia Southwestern is riding a four-match winning streak in the month of October with wins over Flagler (Fla.), USC Aiken (S.C.), Albany State (Ga.), and most-recently the 1-0 at North Georgia on Saturday.
 
The Canes have tallied 21 goals for an average of 1.91 goals per game. GSW's attack is led by reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, Cassidy Brunner who has four goals and an assist this season for nine points. Chloe Iuliano has four goals for eight points while Ella Moody has totaled eight points with three goals and two assists.
 
Defensively, GSW has given up 13 goals to their opponents. PBC Goalkeeper of the Week, Alana Beddow has tallied most of the minutes for GSW with 45 saves and a 6-4-0 record.
 
As for Columbus State, the Lady Cougars shifted up a spot in the latest United Soccer Coaches DII Poll on Tuesday afternoon. CSU remains as one of the top DII statistical leaders in offensive production. The Lady Cougars continue to lead as the top team in total goals (60), total points (159), goals per game (5.00), shots per game (24.83), and shots on goal per game (13.67).
 
Emma Beddow continues as the leading lady with 22 total points this season with a team-leading eight assists and seven goals. Michelle Medina is now tied with Beddow with seven goals this season, tacking on one assist for 15 points
 
The Lady Cougars now have nine student-athletes who have tallied double-digit points while 11 student-athletes have scored three or more goals for the red and blue. CSU has outscored their opponents 60-7 this season.
 
On the defensive end, Anna LaBarbera was named PBC Defender of the Week for her efforts last week. She helps lead a CSU defense that has held opponents to an average of just 6.5 shots per game for a total of just seven goals this season. The Lady Cougars have produced seven shutouts this season and have not given up more than two goals in a match. CSU has also held opponents to single digit shots in eight matches.
 
Wednesday's match is set for 6 p.m. ET at the Walden Soccer Complex. The match will be streamed on the PBC Sports Network and Live Stats will be available as well.
