No. 2 Women’s Soccer Finishes Regular Season with Non-Conference Bout at (RV) Montevallo

CSU closes regular season with non-conference road trip

COLUMBUS – The No. 2-ranked Columbus State University Women's Soccer program hits the road for the regular-season finale with a non-conference bout at (RV) Montevallo (Ala.) on Wednesday night.
 
The Lady Cougars (15-0-1) face the Falcons (10-3-3) at Varsity Soccer Field in Montevallo, Ala. for a 5 p.m. ET kick off.  Wednesday's match will be the 14th meeting between the two programs and the first since 2016.
 
Columbus State is coming off a dominant 4-0 win over USC Beaufort (S.C.) on Saturday while Montevallo is returning to play after a 2-2 draw at Clayton State (Ga.) a week ago.
 
Montevallo has bagged 30 goals as a squad this season, averaging 1.88 goals and 15.8 shots per game. The UM attack is led by Isabel Dillehay who has scored seven goals and assisted a pair for 16 points on the season. Shadia Valenzuela has tallied six goals followed by five from Morgan Goehring and Lainey Farabaugh. Goehring is second on the team in points, adding five assists for 15 points this season.
 
Defensively, the Falcons have given away 12 goals this season and allow an average of 8.4 shots per game. In goal, Emil Hounsell has started all 16 matches and has tallied 42 saves this season as the first-choice keeper in the lineup.
 
Columbus State has continued rolling through opponents this season and has benefitted greatly from the hot boot of Sarah Hungerford who was named PBC Player of the Week for her five-goal performance last week. Hungerford leads the Lady Cougars with 23 points, netting a team-leading 10 goals while assisting three.
 
Hungerford leads as one of five players with 15 or more points this season. Following Hungerford is Emma Beddow with 22 points, Vanessa Aviles with 16, and Michelle Medina and Ui Suzuki with 15 points each. The Lady Cougars have also tallied nine student-athletes with four or more goals.
 
CSU remains as the top scoring offense in Division II, averaging 4.50 goals per game. The Lady Cougars also lead in total points (186), total goals (72), shots on goal per game (12.5), and shots per game (24.7).
 
Defensively, Columbus State has held opponents to just eight goals and an average of 6.8 shots per game. In goal, Heid Harris leads the way with 16 matches played. She has totaled an 80.6% save percentage with 29 saves this season.
