COLUMBUS – Columbus State men's basketball returns home for the holidays at the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center on Tuesday night, hosting NAIA opponent Reinhardt (Ga.) for a 7 p.m. tip.
The Cougars (7-1) welcome the Eagles (6-6) to Columbus for the first of two home games this week.
Scouting the Eagles
Reinhardt competes in the NAIA and will visit the Lumpkin Center on Tuesday night for an exhibition contest while the Cougars will count the game. This is the first time the two programs have met.
The Eagles are 6-6 on the season and last fell to Columbia International (S.C.) back on Dec. 10. Tee Williams leads the way with an average of 19.2 ppg followed by Nate Jones averaging 17.6 ppg. Williams also is tied with Derrick Brown for the team lead in rebounds with an average of 6.2 per game. The senior forward also leads with 1.6 steals per game and a block per game.
As a team, Reinhardt averages 83.3 points per game while shooting for 46% from the field, 35% from three and 80.3% from the foul line.
Previewing the Cougars
The Cougars return after a 10-day break from action with the last contest being the 61-60 win at Georgia College. Since then,
Jarrett Adderton was named PBC Player of the Week last Monday for his efforts versus Francis Marion (S.C.) and the Bobcats.
Adderton leads CSU with an average of 22.3 ppg and is second with 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Rakeim Gary and
Roman Son have dished out an average of 3.5 assists per game followed by 2.3 per contest from
Wisdom Uboh.
Jehloni James is a threat closer to the rim, snatching an average of 6.3 rebounds and totaling 1.1 blocks per game. Columbus State has averaged 78.5 points per game with a 7.9 scoring margin. The Cougars are shooting for 43.9% from the field, 32.4% from three, and 74.2% from the foul line.
