COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's basketball team defeated Clayton State University 64-54 Wednesday evening in the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center. With the win, the Lady Cougars improve to 13-8 (9-4 PBC).
After being outscored 16-6 in the first quarter, Clayton State jumped into the second quarter outscoring the Lady Cougars 19-12, putting the Lakers only three points behind Columbus State heading into the half.
The Lady Cougars scored 18 points in the third quarter to expand CSU's lead to 46-35. Clayton State tried to make a comeback in the fourth, scoring 19 points, but Columbus State maintained it's offensive momentum scoring another 18 points.
Bre'lyn Snipes recorded a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Letiya Reeves scored 14 points,
Olonna Rawls tallied nine points and seven rebounds, and
Jasmine Rai Stevens had seven points.
Columbus State shot 38.3 percent from the field, 23.5 percent from the three-point line and 63.6 percent from the charity stripe.

The Lady Cougars will be back in the Lumpkin Center on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 p.m. as USC Aiken travels to Columbus.
