Folds' No-hitter Highlights Cougars Sweep Over Augusta

Haylee Folds threw her first no-hitter as a Cougar against the Jaguars, while the CSU offense combined for 18 runs in run-rule victories.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team dominated Augusta University in both games on Saturday, defeating the Jaguars 10-0 and 8-0. With the win, the Cougars improve to 17-12 overall and 9-2 in conference play. With the loss, Augusta falls to 12-20 overall (2-8 PBC).

Senior Haylee Folds threw her first career no-hitter in 5.0 innings, striking out six and only giving up four walks. The right-handed pitcher earned her sixth win of the year, improving to 6-2 in the circle for the Cougars.

The Columbus State offense combined for 18 runs, 23 hits, and nine walks in two games. Seniors Brooke Miller and Grace Kiser each hit grand slams in the series.

Game One - CSU 10, AU 0

How it Happened

Columbus State came out swinging in the first inning. Katelyn Cooper kicked things off with a homer to right field, bringing in two runs and setting the tone for the rest of the game. The momentum continued as Brooke Miller followed suit with another homer, this time to left center, adding two more runs to the board.

But Columbus State wasn't done yet. Grace Kiser stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam to left field, driving in four runs and extending the Cougars lead even further. By the end of the first inning, Columbus State had already built an 8-0 lead over the Jaguars.

As the game progressed, Columbus State continued to dominate at the plate, adding on more runs with singles from Ansley Collins and Kenzie Bayer in the fourth inning. Their strong offensive performance and Haylee Folds' powerful arm ultimately led them to a decisive 10-0 victory over Augusta University.

Game Two - CSU 8, AU 0

How it Happened

Just like the first game of the series, Columbus State came out swinging in the first inning, with Kenzie Bayer singling to center field to bring in a run. The hits kept coming in the second inning, as Caitlin Canady doubled to left center to extend their lead.

The fourth inning was where Columbus State really made their mark, with Brooke Miller hitting her grand slam that brought in four runs. Bayer followed suit with a home run of her own, adding another run to their total, 7-0.

In the sixth inning, Canady continued her hot streak with another single that brought in a run due to an error by Augusta's first baseman scoring pinch runner, Mary-Catherine Sorrell, securing the Cougar's second run rule of the day.

Jessica Lopez started in the circle for the Cougars, pitching 5.0 innings and holding the Jaguars to just two hits while striking out four. She grabbed her fifth win of the season to improve to 5-2 overall. Khloe Shears came in the sixth inning to close out the win for the Cougars.
