GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Columbus State University softball team dropped two games to Peach Belt Conference opponent Lander University on Friday afternoon. With the two losses, the Cougars fall to 13-11 (6-2 PBC).

Game 1: CSU 3 LU 4

• CSU took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a Laura Harris two-run RBI single down the right field line, scoring Brooke Miller and Gracyn Gurley
• Kenzie Bayer made it 3-0 in the third with a solo home run to left center field
• Lander minimized CSU's lead to one run after a two-run homer in the bottom of the third
• The Bearcats tied the game in the fourth inning scoring off of a wild pitch, then in the seventh Lander won the game with a RBI single up the middle
• Bayer led the Cougars with two hits and Julianna Franklin received the loss inside the circle after pitching 3.2 innings

Game 2: CSU 5 LU 11

• Lander scored two runs in the first inning to take an early lead, but CSU tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a Harris RBI double to right field and a Caitlyn Canady RBI single to center field
• LU took the lead in the bottom of the second because of a two-run home run and a RBI single
• The Cougars got within one run in the third thanks to a Lindsey Patton RBI double and a Miller sac fly, making it 5-4
• The Bearcats scored one run in both the third and fourth
• Madison McDonald singled down the left field line, scoring Katelyn Cooper to make it 7-5
• In the fifth, Lander scored four runs off of a three-run homer and a RBI double
• Canady and Cooper led the Cougars with two hits each and Jessica Lopez earned the loss after 1.1 innings
