How It Happened
In the first inning, Columbus State took an early lead when Canady scored on a wild pitch. Bayer then doubled down the left field line to bring in another run, bringing the score to 2-0 in favor of the Cougars.

In the third inning, Columbus State extended its lead. Bayer hit another double to left center, driving in Wright for an unearned run. Waites then doubled to right field, bringing in Bayer to make it 4-0.

Lander fought back in the fourth inning after a solo home run to left field, followed by a couple of hits for the Bearcats to tie the game at 5-5.

However, Columbus State responded immediately in the sixth inning with a Patton single that drove in another run for the Cougars. Wright then hit a double to left field, scoring two more runs and giving Columbus State a 7-6 lead.

In the same inning, Bayer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing in another run for Columbus State. Waites then reached on a fielder's choice to add one more run for Columbus State as they extended their lead to 9-6.

Lander managed to score one more run in the sixth inning, but that wasn't enough. Bayer launched a home run in the seventh inning for Columbus State, putting the Cougars up 12-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

The Bearcats scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh on a home run to right center but could not push across anymore, resulting in a well-deserved 12-8 victory for the Cougars.
