Women’s Basketball Headed to the PBC Tournament Championship

The No. 3 seeded Lady Cougars upset the No. 2 seeded Jaguars in the Peach Belt Conference Semifinals in double overtime.

AMERICUS, Ga. - In the Peach Belt Conference tournament semifinals, the third-seeded Columbus State University women's basketball team defeated the second-seeded team from Augusta University, 70-65, in double overtime. With the win, Columbus State secured its spot in the PBC Tournament Championship while improving to 19-9 overall (13-5 PBC). 

Columbus State and Augusta were back and forth for the entirety of the game. At the break, the Lady Cougars had a 29–24 lead. After emerging from the locker rooms in high spirits, the Jaguars outscored the Lady Cougars 22–14 in the third quarter, resulting in a 46–43 lead going into the fourth quarter for Augusta.

Columbus State mounted a comeback to tie the game 50-50 in the fourth quarter as regulation time ended. After tying the game up for the second time at 60-60, the two teams headed into the second overtime, where the Lady Cougars were victorious and finished with a 70-65 win.

Olonna Rawls' career-high performance assisted heavily in the Lady Cougars' win. With a career-high 24 points and an additional career-high 18 rebounds, the senior guard recorded a double-double.

Letiya Reeves also recorded a double-double, scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jasmine Rai Stevens connected on 3-for-5 three-pointers for the Lady Cougars, combining for nine points on the night. 


As a team, Columbus State shot 31.9 percent (23-72) from the field, 20.0 percent (5-25) from behind the arc, and 76.0 percent (19-25) from the charity stripe.

The Columbus State University women's basketball team will take on top-seeded Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes on Sunday, March 10, at 1 p.m. in Americus, Ga., in the 2024 PBC Tournament Championship.
