COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University softball team took one game from the University of West Georgia on Wednesday before the heavy rain suspended play. With the win, the Cougars improved to 26-18 overall, and the Wolves dropped to 16-26 overall.
Game One - CSU 6, UWG 5
Julianna Franklin entered the circle in the sixth inning for the Cougars and earned her tenth victory of the season. She gave up just three hits, struck out two, and prevented any runs from being scored.
Lindsey Patton, a standout player for the Cougars, launched her fifth home run of the season, a pivotal moment in the game. She went 1-for-2 at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in two RBIs.
With the game tied at five a piece,
Nova Wright came in to pinch-hit in the sixth inning for Columbus State. Wright reached on a West Georgia error, plating the go-ahead run.

The Cougars led the Wolves 13-4 in the top of the fourth inning before the game was suspended due to the weather.
