COLUMBUS – No. 23-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer hosts Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) at the Walden Soccer Complex on Wednesday for a Noon ET kickoff.
The Lady Cougars (2-0-0) welcome the Railsplitters (1-0-0) on Wednesday afternoon after opening the season with a pair of solid wins last week. CSU will also be honoring and recognizing the university's military family with Military Appreciation Day at the Walden Soccer Complex.
Columbus State returns to action after a 4-0 performance against Florida Southern on Saturday while Lincoln Memorial opened the season with a 1-0 victory over Southern Wesleyan (S.C.). CSU holds an 8-1 record over LMU and have not dropped a match to the Railsplitters since after the first meeting in 2005.
Last season, Lincoln Memorial finished 8-7-3 and were led by Alicia Bevins who led the team with 10 points, scoring four goals and assisting two. Bevins is a top returner for the Railsplitters and notched an assist in the 1-0 victory on Saturday. Tasha Flynn leads LMU in her fourth season at the helm of the program, holding a 20-25-5 record as the head coach.
On Saturday, LMU out-shot Southern Wesleyan 15-8 and 7-4 in shots on goal. CSU's defense has done a fantastic job so far, producing two clean sheets and allowing just 6.5 shots per contest with only three landing on target in 180 minutes.
The Lady Cougars attack will be threatening for the Railsplitters as they average 19 shots per match, finding the target 52.6% of the time for a total of 10 goals in two matches played.
Vanessa Aviles and
Abigail Akerson lead the way with two goals apiece while Aviles has an assist.
Emma Beddow follows right behind with a goal and a team-leading two assists.
Kickoff is set for Noon ET on Wednesday with a time of honor and recognition for our military prior to the match. The match will be streamed on the
