COLUMBUS – No. 17 Columbus State opened the doors of the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center to the Augusta University Jaguars for a PBC matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars (16-3, 7-2 PBC) fell just short to Augusta University (13-6, 7-2 PBC) with a 76-69 loss.
First Half
Augusta won the ball from tip-off and scored first in the game. It did not take long for Jarrett Adderton to get the Cougars on the board with a jump shot to tie the game at two. As points went back and forth, Wisdom Uboh found the perfect opening for a three pointer to make the score 14-12. With the Jaguars on the counter, Adderton made an important block that kept the Cougars ahead.
With under seven left in the half, Augusta turned over the ball nicely for Jehloni James to dunk, making the score 23-16. Following a defensive rebound, Kordell Brown increased the Cougars' lead with a layup assisted by Adderton at 5:19. While charging down the court, Augusta made yet another turnover the resulted in Jordan Mitchell converting three points to make the score 34-22. In the last minute, Mitchell was able to get two more points on the board before half. Columbus State left to the locker room with a score of 36-25 over the Jaguars.
Second Half
With the start of a new half, Augusta came charging down in hopes to dunk, but James crushed the dream with a block. Twenty seconds later, Uboh got a chance to shoot for three and did so successfully. Down by 11, the Jaguars tried their best to make a comeback, but James, again, ruined Augusta's hopes with a three-pointer at 14:45. The game was at a difference of five until Brown made a jump shot to keep the Cougars ahead.
Less than 10 minutes were remaining in the game when the Jaguars scored a three pointer to make the score 56-53. Pressure was on Columbus State to get more points on the board when Mitchell answered the call with a steal and layup. As 5:50 remained on the clock, Augusta was able to tie the game at 59. Adderton was fouled in the paint to make both free throws to get the score tied again at 63. Columbus State was behind by four with less than three minutes remaining in the game. Brown was able to add two points on the board with a jump shot for a score of 68-71. Unfortunately, CSU was unable to make up the points and faced their first loss since they last played Augusta on January 4th.

Despite the loss, CSU was able to score 69 points, shooting 46.4% (26-of-56) from the field, 29.4% (5-of-17) from three pointers, and 57.1% (12-of-21) from the foul line.

James was the leading scorer for the Cougars with 19 points, shooting 66.7% (8-of-12) from the field, 33.3% (1-of-3) in three pointers, and 25.0% (2-of-8) in free throws.
