Lady Cougars vs Hawks
Columbus State welcomes Shorter to Cougar Field on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. ET doubleheader after coming off a two-game sweep of Albany State (Ga.) a week ago. As for the Hawks, they are riding a two-game winning streak after opening the season with eight-straight losses.
The Lady Cougars are 7-1 on the season and 8-2 all-time versus the foes from Rome, Georgia. Last season, CSU traveled to Rome and took home 14-4 and 6-3 victories back on Feb. 27, 2024.
So far this season, CSU is batting .304 as a squad with 58 hits and 49 runs scored. Out of the 49 hits, 18 have been extra-base hits. Gracyn Gurley and Nova Wright lead the team with three doubles each while Wright has a home run under her belt. Gurley is batting .385 while Wright is batting .381. The two have combined for 16 RBIs, 13 hits, and 11 runs.
In the circle, Julianna Franklin and reigning PBC Freshman of the week Lily Miller record most of the innings. Franklin has tossed for 29.2 innings this season, notching a 1.18 ERA and a total of 32 strikeouts. As for Miller, she has a 1.50 ERA on 14.0 innings pitched and 12 strikeouts.
