COLUMBUS – No. 10 Columbus State men's basketball defeated conference opponent Lander 75-67.
The Cougars move to (23-3,14-2 PBC) as the Bearcats move to (15-11, 9-7 PBC). With the win, CSU has claimed at least a share of the Peach Belt Conference Regular Season title with two games on Augusta. Columbus State could be named outright champions on Wednesday with a win and a loss from Augusta.
First Half
Jehloni James opened the game with a three-pointer as Lander responded with a 6-0 run. Halfway through the quarter, CSU gained the 19-16 lead from a Jordan Mitchell three-pointer. The Bearcats struggled to produce points, despite their many opportunities.
Wisdom Uboh found himself on the board with a three-pointer, assisted by Jarrett Adderton. A turnover by the Cougars led to a three-pointer from Lander to make the score 23-23. After trailing for eight minutes, the Bearcats regained the lead 27-23.
A 6-0 run for the Cougars allowed Columbus to take back the lead with thirty seconds remaining in the half. The half ended 36-34 in favor of the Cougars as Lander's timeout to draw up a play was unsuccessful.
The Cougars shot 13-29 in the field as the Bearcats shot 14-29. CSU secured thirteen points off Landers seven turnovers. James led the Cougars in the half with twelve points.
Second Half
An opening layup from Lander opened the half to tie the game up. Back-and-forth scoring from both sides continued the tie until CSU saw themselves with the lead after a jumper from Mitchell. The Cougars continued their run of 6-0, forcing a timeout from Lander.
Halfway through the half, the Bearcats brought the score back within one, however Columbus State responded with a three-pointer from Uboh followed by an Adderton layup. Adderton captured his seventeenth point of the game with an easy three-pointer to go up 58-52.
As three minutes remained on the clock, Roman Son added three points to the board after a successful hook shot left him at the foul line. With 1:40 on the clock, a turnover by Lander allowed Adderton to add two to the board to make the score 71-65.

The Cougars finished shooting for 46.6% (27-58 ) from the field, 35.0% (7-20 ) from the three, and 82.4% (14-17) from the foul line.

Adderton led with twenty-one points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
