Lady Cougars vs Eagles
Columbus State welcomes Carson-Newman to Cougar Field for a Sunday afternoon doubleheader. The Lady Cougars are coming off a doubleheader sweep against Shorter University on Feb. 18 as the Eagles are coming off of a 7-4 win on Feb. 21.
Columbus State is 9-1 on the season thus far as Carson-Newman is 9-5. The Lady Cougars are 6-5 against the Eagles, with their last matchup being held at Cougar Field in 2023. CSU lost this matchup 1-2.
CSU is led by Gracyn Gurley, Anna Waites, and Nova Wright. Gurley is batting a .353 while Waites and Wright are batting .333. So far this season, CSU has totaled 78 hits, 63 runs, 57 RBIs, and 9 home runs. Last game against Shorter, CSU added 6 home runs with Holly Lynn now leading after slamming 3 during the doubleheader.
Julianna Franklin continues to lead the circle as she is 6-0 on the season while Lily Miller is 3-1. Franklin has tossed 36.2 innings with 37 strikeouts, 23 hits,10 walks, and only 6 runs. Franklin and Miller have both collected accolades so far this season as Franklin was named PBC Pitcher of the Week and Miller was named PBC Freshman of the Week.
