Men's Basketball Shelby Watkins

CSU Basketball Travels to GSW for Wednesday Night Battle

The Lady Cougars tip off at 5:30 p.m. ET followed by Cougars at 7:30 p.m. ET

COLUMBUS – The Columbus State men's and women's basketball teams will travel to neighboring Georgia Southwestern State on Wednesday night for a Peach Belt Conference duel.

Women's Basketball vs Georgia Southwestern State 

The Lady Cougars (13-5, 7-2 PBC) will face off against the Hurricanes (10-7, 6-3 PBC) who are ranked third in PBC standings. CSU is coming from a 75-65 win against Augusta University with Letiya Reeves leading the way in points.  

Against the Jaguars, Columbus State finished with their second-best free throw percentage (91.7%) and second highest total of rebounds of 44 (38.9%) of the season thus far.  

Bre'lyn Snipes, Reeves, and Olonna Rawls stay on top of the board as the top three scorers with double figure averages, Snipes and Reeves with 14.8 and 14.7, respectively. Rawls also leads in several other categories such as steals (3.3%), assists (2.7%), and rebounds (4.0%).  

For the Lady Hurricanes, they are looking to climb up the PBC standings as they sit in third place right behind the Lady Cougars. GSW averages 72.2% PPG, shooting 43.1% from the field, 34.4% in three pointers, and 73.1% in free throws. The lady Hurricane are led by the top two scorers in the conference who average over 18.8% in PPG.

#20 Men's Basketball vs Georgia Southwestern State

The No. 20-ranked Cougars (16-3, 7-2 PBC) are looking to bounce back after picking up their second conference loss against Augusta University with a final score of 69-76. Even with the loss, CSU continues to stay on top of the PBC. Jarrett Adderton ranks second in the conference scoring, averaging 20.8% PPG. Jeheloni James also ranks second in the PBC with a field goal percentage of 60.0% per game.  

This past weekend, CSU was able to score 69 points, shooting 46.4% from the field, 29.4% in three pointers, and 57.1% from the charity line. Four players gathered double digit points with James leading the way. Adderton followed behind with 15 points in the game. Kordell Brown and Jordan Mitchell finished with 14 and 11 points, respectively.  

Currently, the Hurricanes (2-7, 8-11 PBC) are ranked eighth in the PBC, averaging 80.6% PPG. GSW averages 47.1% in field goal percentage, 37.0% in three pointers, and 70.1% in free throws per game. A total of five players for the Hurricanes average double-digit scoring with Josiah Shackleford leading with 18.06% PPG, putting him in fifth in total scoring in conference.
