COLUMBUS – The Lady Cougars Softball will welcome softball back to Cougar Field this weekend, hosting the Bulldogs of Union University.

Cougars vs Bulldogs
Columbus State is 6-3 against Union with their last meeting on February 9, 2024, where the Cougars lost at home 3-5. The most recent win the Lady Cougars had over the Bulldogs was on February 13, 2022, with a 6-0 sweep at home.
The Bulldogs are currently 0-4 in their 2025 season with their last loss against the No. 8 Nighthawks of North Georgia 3-11 at the Gulf Shores Invitational. In their 2024 season, Union went 28-23 overall and 16-14 in the Gulf South Conference.
The Lady Cougars are currently 2-1 overall with a recent series win against the Wolves of Newberry College this past weekend. In game one, Nova Wright led the way with two runs, and two RBIs, and a hit. Julianna Franklin helped with the 6-4 win, tossing 6.2 innings. She struck out eight batters and gave up seven hits, one earned run while walking four batters.
In their 11-4 win that clinched the series, Kara Wegienka, and Wright led the team with three RBIs each on two hits. Franklin pitched all seven innings that game, recording five strikeouts while allowing four earned runs and walking three batters. All eight freshmen experienced their first taste of collegiate softball.
