COLUMBUS, GA. – Columbus State University softball split their Wednesday afternoon doubleheader against The University of Alabama-Huntsville.
The Lady Cougars took game one 10-0 but fell in game two 0-2. CSU moved to a 20-7 record as UAH moved to 14-12 on the season.
Game One - Columbus State 10, UAH 0
After two quick innings, Columbus State got on the board in the third inning. Gracyn Gurley ripped a double to left field then stole third base. An error by the visitor's first base allowed Gurley to come home. A double from Nova Wright brought in Mary-Catherine Sorrell and Madison McDonald for a 3-0 lead.
UAH had an opportunity to bring in a runner in the fourth inning but left a runner on third and second base stranded.
In the sixth inning, Ella Hopper hit a single to advance Madison Hanchey to second base after she walked to first. After both Cougars advanced to the next base from a wild pitch, Izzy Ripatti brought in Hanchey and Hopper after ripping a single to right field.
The Cougars capped the game off with two home runs as Holly Lynn brought in three runs followed by Izzy Ripatti bringing in two.

- The Charger's pitcher collected twelve strikeouts, but the Cougars were still able to dominate at the plate.

Game Two - Columbus State 0, UAH 2
After a blowout in the first game, UAH responded with an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. CSU struggled at the plate as they were unable to produce many hits. Lynn recorded a hit in the fourth followed by a hit from Sorrell in the fifth inning. The Cougars left two stranded on base in the fifth.
The Chargers tallied another run in the sixth inning after a double put a runner on base and she eventually made her way home due to an error by Rippati at third base.
Rippati and Rylie Beddingfield got on base in the seventh inning after they both hit singles, but they were left stranded.
