COLUMBUS, GA. – Columbus State University softball split Friday's doubleheader against Augusta University.
The Lady Cougars fell 2-4 in extra innings during game one, but walked it off with a home run in game two for the 2-1 win.
Game One - Columbus State 2, Augusta 4
Augusta opened the game with a 1-0 lead after two quick singles brought a runner home. The visitors did not hold the lead for long after Madison Norrell homered to left center field to tie the game.
The Lady Cougars took the lead in the third inning after Sorrell blasted a triple to right field. A ground out from Anna Waites brought in Sorrell for the 2-1 lead.
A tie game for the next few innings brought the two teams into an extra inning battle. After continuous scoreless innings, Augusta ended the game in the eleventh inning after a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded brought in runners for the 4-2 win for the Jags.

Game Two - Columbus State 2, Augusta 1
After a scoreless first inning, Augusta got on the board in the second inning after a double to center field landed a player on base. A sacrifice fly advanced the runner followed by another base hit to advance her home for the 1-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Hollyn Lynn ripped a home run to centerfield to tie the game 1-1.
In the fifth inning, Anna Waites recorded a single followed by another hit for Lynn, but the two were left stranded.
The Lady Cougars walked it off in the seventh inning after a home run from Mary-Catherine Sorrell gave them the 2-1 win.
