COLUMBUS, GA. – Columbus State University softball fell in both games against West Alabama during their Tuesday afternoon doubleheader.
The Lady Cougars fell 2-3 during game one and 5-6 in game two.
Game One - Columbus State 2, West Alabama 3
West Alabama got on the board early with an opening two runs to take the lead. A single followed by a home run brought in the two runs for the visitors. The Lady Cougars responded with two runs in the second after Anna Waites homered to left field.
After several scoreless innings, West Alabama gained the lead in the sixth inning after a fielder's choice landed a runner on base who eventually came home for the 3-2 lead.
CSU struggled to produce anything offensively for the remaining innings after quick outings gave UWA the game-one win.

- The Lady Cougars only recorded two hits while West Alabama recorded five hits. Nova Wright and Waites recorded the only two hits for CSU.
- Julianna Franklin(10-6) tossed for seven innings with ten strikeouts, five hits, one walk, and three runs.
Game Two - Columbus State 5, West Alabama 6
CSU opened game two with two quick runs in the first inning. Wright reached base due to an error by the second baseman as Waites followed with a base hit. After a walk loaded the bases, Aubree Ussery singled to right field to bring in Waites and Wright.
A solo home run in the inning brought in a run for West Alabama. The Lady Cougars responded with two more runs in the third inning as Wright opened with another single followed by a single from Waites. Ussery collected another hit and RBI to bring in Wright. With bases loaded, Abrianna Green got hit by a pitch to allow Waites to come in for the 4-1 lead.
West Alabama tied the game in the fourth inning after they collected two hits with an error from the Lady Cougars. The Tigers took the lead in the fifth inning after producing two more hits that helped tally two runs.
Despite the Lady Cougars' efforts, they were only able to collect one more run in the seventh inning.
