ATLANTA, Ga. - Columbus State University men's and women's track & field traveled to Atlanta for the Emory Spring Break Classic on Friday and Saturday.
For the men, the Cougars produced a total of 13 top 10 finishes across a handful of events.
William Player led with yet another NCAA qualifying earning mark in the pole vault, capturing first place with a mark of 4.90m. Camerin Rigdon followed with a mark of 4.60m for third while Alexander Kendall went for a mark of 4.45m for eighth.
Brandon Dodd and Zameron Boozer both notched second place finishes in their respective events. Dodd marked a jump of 7.13m in the long jump while also adding 14th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.91m. Boozer captured second in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m.
For the throws, Tereil Mitchum tossed a mark of 14.07m for 10th in the shot put followed by ninth from Joshua Dare in the hammer with a throw of 45.60m.
In the relays, the team of Jahmai Dillon, Tyler Thomas, Dante Walls, and Jayden Powell race to a fourth-place finish in the 4x200 with a time of 1:29.17 followed by Malik Hall, Mikel Handy, Diego Jefferson, and Ethan Sanders with a time of 1:32.35 for seventh. In the 4x400, Anthony Brown Jr., Dante Walls, Tyler Thomas, and Jayden Powell notched sixth with a time of 3:20.01.
For the rest of the running events, Columbus State gathered three more top 10 placements. Chavis Johnson gathered fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.90s while Dante Wells raced for third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.60s. Nicholas Phillips rounds out with seventh in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:38.72.

As for the women, Nakhia Montgomery captured 13th in the 200m dash with a time of 25:36s. Liza Varnum went for 18th in the 400m hurdles with a finishing time of 1:08.83. The 4x200m relay squad of Chassidy Lock, Azorria Higgins, Deandra Downer, and Montgomery raced for ninth with a time of 1:49.43 to finish the running events.
Sarah Arnold marked a height of 2.70m in the pole vault for 16th individually. In the triple jump, Downer cleared a mark of 11.05m for eighth to lead the jumps.
