COLUMBUS – No. 6 Columbus State men's basketball hosted Georgia Southwestern for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
One-seed Columbus State defeated eight-seed Georgia Southwestern in fashionable manor 95-70. With this win, Columbus State will now host the remainder of the PBC Tournament on March 8th and 9th.
First Half
Georgia Southwestern opened play with a 5-0 run, but Columbus State responded with a 6-0 run to take the lead. Jarrett Adderton and Roman Son led the first seven minutes with five points and one steal apiece.
Halfway through the first half, Columbus State led 23-19 with ten points being from Adderton. GSW struggled to make baskets which allowed CSU to go on a 6-0 run to increase the score to 30-20. The Cougars were unable to produce anything for three minutes, which allowed the Canes to go on a 7-0 run.
Joshua Guilford collected his first two points of the game to end GSW's run. As ninety seconds remained on the clock Columbus State held a one point lead. Guilford assisted a WIsdom Uboh three-pointer to go up 37-31 at the half.
Second Half
Adderton collected his seventeenth point at the start of the half. Uboh recorded his fourth assist with the dish off to Son for a three-pointer. Three minutes after, Uboh drained a three-pointer for himself to give the Cougars a 50-37 lead.
The Cougars grabbed a 62-44 lead with the help of Uboh. Uboh went 3-3 in three-pointers in a span of two minutes as he tallied his sixteenth point of the game. Kordell Brown became the third Cougar to enter double digits after a jumper saw him at the foul line.
Columbus State took a twenty point lead as eight and a half minutes remained on the clock. A dunk for Masiah Jones got his name on the score sheet as Uboh collected his sixth assist. GSW struggled to produce points, which dug them into a deeper hole, as CSU continued to run with the lead.
Nathan Eroh got his first two points on the board, followed by a three-pointer from Malachi Chestnut to deal the game for the Cougars with a 89-68 lead.

The Cougars finished shooting for 45.3% (34-75 ) from the field, 56.5% (13-23) from the three, and 77.8% (14-18) from the foul line.
