COLUMBUS – Columbus State women's tennis welcomed Valdosta State (Ga.) to the John W. Walden Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Cougars (9-4) defeated the Blazers (3-7) with a 5-2 victory.
Despite giving up the #1 and #2 doubles lines, the Lady Cougars would go on to take wins at the #1, #2, #4, #5, and #6 singles positions. After a forfeit win at #6 singles for CSU, Mariana Ramirez opened by taking #2 singles 6-3 and 6-2 followed by Isadora Oliveira winning 6-3 and 6-2 at #5 singles.
The order of finished followed with Laura Pesickova's defeat at #3 singles, falling 1-6, 6-1, and 4-6. Nikoline Gullacksen followed with a three-set victory at #1 singles, winning the second and third sets, 6-1 and 6-4 after going down 7-5 in the first frame. Lastly, Sofia Lauretti one #4 singles with a super tiebreaker splitting sets 5-7 and 6-4.
