GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Columbus State Cougars softball team won game one against Peach Belt Conference opponent Lander Bearcats on Saturday. With the win, the Cougars are now 29-22 (8-11 PBC).
Lander gave up two hits and held Columbus State scoreless in the game until the seventh inning. The Bearcats scored two runs on two hits in the first inning, and the Cougars committed one error.
The Cougars tied the game 2-2 in the seventh inning after
Rylie Beddingfield singled to shortstop.
Anna Waites singled to shortstop and advanced to second on the throw, Beddingfield advanced to third.
Avery Hays hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Beddingfield.
Madison McDonald singled to left field,
Anna Waites advanced to third and scored on an error by the left fielder.
In the eighth Beddingfield's double to left center was the game winning hit that brought home
Abrianna Green giving the Cougars a 3-2 victory.
Julianna Franklin got the win inside the circle and falls to 15-11. Franklin pitched a complete game and gave up two runs on six hits.
