GREENWOOD, S.C. — No. 10 Columbus State women's tennis secured a 5-2 victory over Lander (S.C.) on Saturday at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center, improving to 13-5 overall and 5-1 in Peach Belt Conference play.
After
Annie Adams and
Majra Djokic won 6-2 at No. 3 doubles, CSU fell short at the top two spots as Lander claimed the doubles point. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Lady Cougars rallied in singles, winning five of six matches.
In singles, the Cougars surged back, winning five of six. Victories came from
Isadora Oliveira (6-1, 6-1) at No. 5 singles with
Nikoline Gullacksen taking a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Mille Elsborg. Lander tied the match at 2-2 as
Laura Pesickova fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3.
However, CSU shifted momentum in their favor with wins from
Sofia Lauretti (6-2, 6-4) at No. 4,
Majra Djokic (7-5, 6-3) at No. 6, and
Mariana Ramirez (6-4, 1-6, 7-6 [7-2]) at No. 2 to secure the 5-2 victory.
