COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University Women's Basketball team held off a late charge to defeat the University of South Carolina Beaufort, 79–75, in Peach Belt Conference action Saturday afternoon inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center.
Columbus State controlled the tempo early and built separation behind aggressive defense and balanced scoring, then made key plays down the stretch to preserve the four-point victory. The Lady Cougars capitalized on turnovers throughout the game, converting them into transition opportunities and crucial points.
Letiya Reeves led all scorers with a game-high 24 points, adding six rebounds, eight steals, and two assists in an all-around performance.
Alana Hankerson followed with 12 points, while
Madison Reese provided a spark off the bench with nine points on efficient shooting.
Sophia Williams had six rebounds and five assists, while Columbus State's depth played a key role as the bench combined for 29 points. The Lady Cougars finished with 17 steals and scored 33 points off turnovers, applying pressure for all four quarters.
With the win, Columbus State improves to 12–2 overall and 6–1 in Peach Belt Conference play and will return to action on Wednesday, January 14, traveling to Milledgeville, Ga., to face Georgia College inside the Centennial Center, with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
