GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Columbus State University Women's Basketball team put together a balanced performance Friday evening, earning a 70-56 Peach Belt Conference road victory over Lander University inside Finis Horne Arena to improve to 15-3 overall and 9-2 in conference play.
Letiya Reeves led Columbus State with 14 points, adding two assists and a steal, while
Alana Hankerson provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.
Nadea Smith scored 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds, and
Aaliyah Ferrell added six points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Columbus State finished with a 47-44 rebounding advantage, scored 32 points in the paint, and received 36 points from the bench, highlighting the team's depth. The Lady Cougars also capitalized on turnovers, converting 17 points off Lander miscues.
Columbus State will return home on Wednesday, January 28, to face the University of North Georgia inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., with fans encouraged to wear red for "Sea of Red Night." The Zooperstars will perform at halftime of both games.
