The Columbus State University Women’s Basketball team earned a 70–57 victory over the University of South Carolina- Aiken on Wednesday night in Peach Belt Conference action.

Aiken, S.C. The Columbus State University Women's Basketball team earned a 70–57 victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken on Wednesday night in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Lady Cougars leaned on balanced scoring and strong defensive effort to pull away in the second half, outscoring USCA while controlling the paint and converting turnovers into points. Columbus State finished the night with 32 points in the paint and 24 points off turnovers, while the bench contributed 39 points.

Alana Hankerson led all scorers with 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Letiya Reeves added 11 points and six rebounds. Samara Saunders and Nadea Smith each chipped in 10 points, with Smith shooting an efficient 5-for-6 from the field.

Sophia Williams posted a strong all-around performance, finishing with six rebounds and four assists, as Columbus State totaled 14 assists on the night.

With the win, Columbus State improves to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in Peach Belt Conference play. The team will return to action on Saturday, January 10, hosting the University of South Carolina Beaufort inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
