COLUMBUS — The Columbus State University Softball team fell 10–0 to Tuskegee University on Friday morning at Cougar Field in the Red-White-Blue Classic.
Columbus State recorded five hits in the game, led by
Kara Wegienka, who finished 2-for-2 with a double.
Libby Buchanan,
Ella Hopper, and
Nova Wright each added a hit, with Wright also had a double. The Cougars drew two walks and stole two bases, but were unable to capitalize offensively.
In the circle,
Hanna Deschambault (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs in 1.2 innings of work.
Khloe Shears provided 4.1 innings of relief, surrendering five runs (two earned) while striking out one.
Tuskegee's Monica Rose earned the win with a complete-game shutout, limiting Columbus State to five hits and striking out six as the Golden Tigers built an early advantage with three runs in the first and two in the second before capping the victory with a five-run sixth inning.
Records: Columbus State moves to 2-1, while Tuskegee is 1-0.
