COLUMBUS — Columbus State softball standout Nova Wright was named as the Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway after an outstanding all-around performance for the Cougars during last week's games against Emmanuel (Ga.) and USC Beaufort.

Wright delivered an exceptional week at the plate, finishing 10-for-16 (.625) across five games while scoring eight runs, recording five RBI's, and blasting one home run. Her offensive consistency helped power the Cougars in both non-conference play and their opening Peach Belt Conference series.

The senior opened the week with a standout showing in Columbus State's doubleheader against Emmanuel on March 5. Wright went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI's in the opener before adding a perfect 1-for-1 performance with a run scored in game two.

She continued her strong stretch against USC Beaufort on March 7, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored and two RBI's, including a home run. Wright added two hits in four at-bats and scored twice in the March 8 match-up to close out the week.

Defensively, Wright was equally impressive, recording 15 putouts and one assist while posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage across the five contests without committing an error.

A senior from Loganville, Georgia, Wright attended Walnut Grove High School and is majoring in Health Science at Columbus State.

When asked about her most memorable performance at the collegiate level, Wright pointed to a championship moment for the program. "Winning the Peach Belt Conference Championship against North Georgia and dog piling on their field," Wright said.
