AUGUSTA, Ga. — Khloe Shears of the Columbus State University Softball team has been named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week after delivering three complete-game performances in the circle for the Cougars last week.
Shears was dominant across three appearances, tossing 21.0 innings while allowing just three runs, two of which were earned, on 20 hits. The junior issued only three walks and recorded six strikeouts during the stretch while helping lead Columbus State in Peach Belt Conference competition.
Shears opened the week on March 11 against Valdosta State, pitching a complete seven-inning game in which she allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits without issuing a walk. She followed with one of her strongest outings of the season on March 13 against Georgia College, throwing a complete-game shutout while allowing six hits and one walk across seven innings.
The Munford, Ala. native closed the week with another complete-game performance on March 14 against Georgia College, working seven innings while allowing just one run on seven hits. She also recorded four strikeouts in the outing to secure the victory for the Cougars.
In addition to her work in the circle, Shears contributed defensively with a perfect fielding performance in two of the three contests. She recorded four assists against Georgia College on March 13 and added another assist in the March 14 match-up, helping Columbus State defensively with clean play in the field.
The weekly conference honor recognizes the top pitching performance in the Peach Belt Conference and highlights a strong stretch for Shears.
