COLUMBUS — Columbus State University softball junior
Izzy Ripatti has been named the Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, after a standout all-around performance for the Cougars last week.
Ripatti delivered a strong presence at the plate and in the field across six games, helping lead Columbus State through a key stretch of conference and nonconference action. She posted a .526 batting average (10-for-19), highlighted by a perfect 3-for-3 performance against Georgia Southwestern on April 6, where she scored three runs and drove in two.
The Carrollton, Ga., native continued her offensive production with multiple-hit efforts against Fort Valley State, including a 4-for-4 outing with two RBI's in game two of the doubleheader. She added a home run and finished the week with four RBI's and five runs scored, providing consistent production throughout the lineup.
Defensively, Ripatti was equally impactful, recording 25 putouts and 18 assists across the week while maintaining a near-perfect fielding percentage. She was flawless in five of six games, including standout defensive efforts against North Georgia, where she totaled 16 assists across two contests.
Ripatti is a graduate of Central-Carrollton High School and is majoring in Elementary Education. When asked about her favorite quote, she shared, "If you're gonna be stupid, you gotta be tough."
