AUGUSTA, Ga. — Five Columbus State University Softball players earned Peach Belt Conference All-Conference honors, the league announced.
Senior
Ansley Collins was named to the All-PBC Second Team as a utility player, while
Libby Buchanan,
Izzy Ripatti,
Khloe Shears, and
Aubree Ussery were selected to the Second Team At-Large.
Collins earned Second Team honors after appearing in 42 games with 40 starts for the Cougars. The senior posted a .306 batting average with 38 hits, 28 runs scored, five doubles, 13 RBI's, and a .385 on-base percentage. Defensively, Collins recorded a .964 fielding percentage with 21 putouts and 60 assists.
Buchanan was named Second Team At-Large after turning in a strong season at the plate. She appeared in 35 games with 28 starts, batting .405 with 32 hits, 26 runs scored, one double, one triple, eight RBI's, and a .442 on-base percentage. Buchanan also went a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts and posted a .951 fielding percentage.
Ripatti also earned Second Team At-Large recognition after producing one of the Cougars' top offensive seasons. She hit .340 with 32 hits, 20 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 22 RBI's. Ripatti finished with a 1.066 OPS, a .649 slugging percentage, and a .417 on-base percentage, while also going 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts.
Ussery was selected to the Second Team At-Large after leading the Cougars in several offensive categories. She started all 51 games, batting .378 with 62 hits, 28 runs scored, 12 doubles, nine home runs, and 42 RBI's. Ussery recorded a 1.029 OPS, a .616 slugging percentage, and a .982 fielding percentage.
Shears rounded out the Columbus State honorees, earning Second Team At-Large honors after leading the Cougars in the circle. Shears appeared in 29 games with 21 starts, posting a 17-8 record, a 2.75 ERA, and 145.1 innings pitched. She also recorded 46 strikeouts, 13 complete games, four shutouts, and one save.
The No. 2-seeded Cougars will travel to Dahlonega, Ga., for the
Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Friday, May 8, at Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium. Columbus State will face No. 7-seeded Augusta University at 11:00 a.m.
