Derek Wylie joined the Columbus State baseball coaching staff as a graduate assistant in 2025. He assists with the day-to-day operations of the program, including practices, player development, recruiting operations and game-day responsibilities.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Wylie was a three-year standout outfielder for the Cougars from 2022-23. He earned D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team, NCBWA All-Southeast Region First Team, ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region Second Team and All-Peach Belt Conference First Team honors in 2023 after leading the team in hits (67), RBI (64), runs (58), walks (35), home runs (19), slugging percentage (.665) and on-base percentage (.433). Wylie was also named to the All-Peach Belt Conference First Team in 2022 after batting .342 with 78 hits, 19 home runs and 67 RBI.
