Perez Knowles is entering his first year as a graduate assistant coach for the Cougars, however, he is no stranger to the program.
A native of Freeport, Bahamas, Knowles transferred to Columbus State in 2016 from Troy University and quickly became a standout pitcher for the Cougars in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Knowles pitched a total of 38 games, tallying 161 strikeouts, having an average of a 2.60 ERA. He earned All-Peach Belt Conference Second Team in 2018, the year CSU won the NCAA Division II World Series.
After his time at CSU, Knowles played professionally for the Cincinnati Reds organization. He was a member of the Greenville Reds in the Appalachian League and pitched 11 innings.
Perez received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Columbus State, and is now also pursuing his master’s degree in exercise science.
