Alexa Gaul

Alexa Gaul joined the Columbus State University women’s soccer staff in July 2016 as a graduate assistant coach. Gaul’s primary duty is serving as the goalkeeping coach for the Lady Cougars as well as assisting with the day-to-day activities of the program.
 
Gaul came to Columbus straight from the professional ranks after wrapping up her playing days. Gaul spent a year and a half in Willstätt, Germany playing for SC Sand in the Allianz-Frauen Bundesliga. During Gaul’s tenure, SC Sand found success including advancing to the DFB Pokal Finale, the German Championship, as well as defeating the defending European Champion, VFL Wolfsburg, for the first time in club history.
 
Prior to her time in Germany, Gaul played for UMF Selfoss in Selfoss, Iceland. In that season, UMF Selfoss recorded the club’s first ever top four finish and played in the Icelandic Championship Cup match.
 
In her collegiate career, Gaul played three seasons at the University of Texas before spending her senior season at Boston College. At UT, Gaul was a two-time All-Big 12 player as well as being on the 2010 MAC Hermann Trophy watch list, which is presented to the nation's top collegiate soccer player on both the women's and men's side. At BC, Gaul helped the Eagles to the NCAA Tournament and also a victory against number one ranked Florida State.
 
Gaul also has national experience, being selected to the U-15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 23 U.S. National Teams. In 2008, she was on the U.S. Under 17 Women’s World Cup team that captured a second place finish.
 
Gaul graduated from Boston College in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology and Human Development.
