Shelby Watkins

Shelby Watkins is entering her first season as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the women's soccer program in 2024-25, serving as the team's Goalkeeper Coach. She will also work as a Sports Information Graduate Assistant during the spring semesters.

Watkins played two seasons of women's soccer at Peach Belt Conference school Georgia Southwestern State University, where she served as Captain during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. She was a PBC Team of Academic Distinction honoree and a 2022-23 GSW Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete. During her time at GSW, Watkins earned a spot on the President's List for four semesters and also worked in the University Relations office.

Prior to her time at GSW, Watkins attended the University of West Alabama where she made the GSC Academic Honor Roll and met her now husband, Reda Ikarrain.

A native of Phenix City, Ala., Watkins obtained a B.A. in Emerging Media and Communications with a minor in Marketing from Georgia Southwestern in 2023, graduating with Magna Cum Laude Honors. She is now pursuing a M.S. in Organizational Leadership.
