COLUMBUS – After nine days off, the Columbus State University women's volleyball team will return to action taking on Southern Wesleyan Tuesday. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Tysinger Gymnasium in Central, S.C.

Columbus State last took the court on October 8 falling to USC Aiken 3-1 in Aiken, S.C. The Lady Cougars took the first set before dropping the final three sets against the defending Peach Belt Conference champions. Seniors

"It was good to get a little break," said head coach
Casey Cornett. "It gave us some time to work on a few things and hopefully a match against a tough Southern Wesleyan will get us prepared for another crucial conference weekend."

Tuesday's meeting between CSU and Southern Wesleyan is the first between the two programs.

About Southern Wesleyan

Members of Conference Carolinas, Southern Wesleyan will enter the match with a 9-7 overall record and on a seven-match winning streak. SWU hasn't dropped a match since September 16.

Sarah Hughey and Paige O'Connor have been pacing the Warriors the entire season. Hughey averages 3.93 kills per set while hitting .359. The junior leads the CC in both categories. O'Connor chips in with 3.13 kills per set.

Sophomore Annika Jones averages 9.60 assists per set, while Millicia Stamenic adds 4.77 digs per set.

Columbus State (10-8) is currently on a five-match winning streak against non-conference opponents and is 8-1 this season against non-PBC foes.

McCarty has had 10 matches this season with double-digits kills, including tallying 16 and 14 in the past two matches. The senior is leading the team with 3.10 kills per set, which ranks eighth in the PBC.

Despite not playing for over a week, the Lady Cougars still lead the PBC in service aces with 134.
Through the first 18 matches of the season, a senior has led the Lady Cougars in kills in 12 matches.
