MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The shutout streak is now at six for the fifth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team after a 4-0 victory at Montevallo on Wednesday night. The Peach Belt Conference match was played at Varsity Field.

The Lady Cougars have now matched their longest shutout streak since the 2009 season, when they also notched six straight clean sheets. CSU has now held opponents off the board for 573 consecutive minutes. The victory was also Columbus State's seventh straight overall.

"We continue to play well on the defensive end," head coach
Jay Entlich said. "We have consistently scored goals this season and it is great to see us continue to keep the opposition out of the net."

Columbus State (12-2-0, 8-1-0 PBC) held control of the match throughout, getting off the first five shots of the match. The first three were kept out of the net, but the Lady Cougars broke through in the 11
th minute.

Tehgan Anguilm played a through ball to
Olivia Jarrell streaking down the left side of the field. Jarrell took the pass and sent a ball into the box.
Nicole Corcione came streaking toward the near post and flipped the ball into the right side of the net for her eighth goal of the year.

The Lady Cougar attack kept coming with eight more shots over the remainder of the first half, but the Falcons were able to keep the game at just 1-0 at halftime.

CSU found its insurance shortly after the break in the 53
rd minute.
Taylor Marks flipped a ball over the UM backline that Jarrell got on the end of. The sophomore corralled the ball and dribbled between three defenders before sending the ball into the net for her ninth tally.

The Lady Cougars kept the scoring going in the 76
th minute.
Hugrun Elvarsdottir tight-roped the endline to keep a pass in play and dribbled in from the right side. Her pass set up
Cassandra Wade in the box and Wade calmly put it in to tie her with Jarrell for the team lead in goals.

With the match winding down, Columbus State found the net one more time.
Delaney Borror took a pass from
Keyle Snyder and worked around a defender before scoring her second goal of the season.

Montevallo (4-8-1, 3-6-1) was limited to just four shots on the night, while the Lady Cougars took 23.

Maylyn Parsons played the full match in net for her second shutout of the season. The senior is now just one away from tying the program and conference record for career shutouts.

Columbus State will play its second straight road match on Saturday, as the Lady Cougars head to Flagler. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Saint Augustine, Fla.
