Mandy Janowitz. The senior collected it and dribbled around two defenders before beating the keeper to the far post to kick off her big night.
Â
The two sides then went into a defensive struggle with 13 more shots between them over the rest of the first half, but none finding the net. Parsons made three saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the game at 1-0 heading into halftime.
Â
It remained a 1-0 contest through the first 10-plus minutes of the second half until it looked as if Armstrong State (12-2-2, 8-1-2) had tied the match.
Â
A long throw in was flicked into the center of the box for the Pirates. Amanda Green then deflected a ball at the net, forcing Parsons to make another save. Green then knocked the ball out from under the Lady Cougar keeper into the net, but the goal was waved off.
