ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Columbus State University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-18) decision to Flagler Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the Flagler Gymnasium in St. Augustine, Fla.

Mary McCarty had a team-high nine kills while
Zoemy Barreto Pereira chipped in eight.
Caytlin Merritt had 17 digs for the Lady Cougars.

"We struggled a bit today," said head coach
Casey Cornett. "We will have to come back home and shake this one off and get ready for another tough road match against Georgia College on Tuesday."

Flagler (14-6, 10-2 PBC) immediately raced out to an early 9-3 lead in the first set. CSU tried to get back in the set winning three points to pull within 14-8 of the Saints with McCarty leading the way. The senior had two kills while
Abby King and
Malaisia Stallworth teamed up for a block in the run. However, Flagler ended the first set by winning six of the final seven points to take the set 25-13.Â

Columbus State (14-9, 5-8) held an early 3-2 lead in set two before five straight points for the Saints propelled them ahead 7-3. The Lady Cougars fought back to get within two at 10-8, but the Saints pulled away again winning 11 of the next 13 points to grab a 21-10 lead. FC won the set 25-15.

The Lady Cougars jumped out to a 5-2 lead in set three thanks to strong play from their seniors.
Megan Frame,
Andrea Skipor and McCarty all had kills to give CSU the early lead.

After the two sides exchanged points, Flagler took a 13-10 lead before Columbus State ran off four straight points to go in front 14-13. CSU would lead one more time before Flagler started to inch away. With CSU up 15-14, FC won three straight and seven of the next nine to go ahead 21-17. FC eventually took the final four points in the set to complete the sweep 25-18.

Columbus State will be back in action on Tuesday, November 1 taking on Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
