COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University volleyball team will hit the road in search for its first Peach Belt Conference wins of the year as the Lady Cougars make a two-city stop this weekend.

CSU will first take on Francis Marion on Friday before traveling up to Pembroke, N.C. to face UNC Pembroke Saturday.

The Lady Cougars swept Albany State 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-12) Tuesday night inside the Lumpkin Center.
Savannah Miller led the team with 11 kills while
Megan Frame and
Malaisia Stallworth chipped in with eight and seven kills, respectively.

"We have to come out and stick to our game plan. Playing on the road is hard and we haven't been in that situation so much this season so we have to be prepared for anything that comes our way."

Columbus State and Francis Marion have split their first six meetings between one another, however CSU holds a 2-1 advantage in Florence against the Patriots. Against UNC Pembroke, the Lady Cougars are 4-2 all-time, including a 2-1 mark on the road.

Francis Marion will enter this weekend with a 6-5 record after dropping its last three matches. The Patriots fell to Lander and USC Aiken last weekend in PBC action.

Caroline Boone is one of the best middle hitters in the league as the senior is averaging 3.85 kills per set. She ranks second in the league in kills per set and third in hitting percentage with a .350 mark. Boone also ranks top-10 in the league in total blocks with 27.

Shelbi Meek is also having a great start to her season ranking second in the PBC in digs per set averaging 5.13. FMU setter Carrie McGinnis is fourth in the PBC averaging 10.63 assists per set.

UNC Pembroke is off to a rough start posting a 1-11 record, including a 0-2 mark in conference play. Last weekend, the Braves fell to USC Aiken and Lander 3-0.
Caroline Pridgen leads the team with 2.1 kills per set while Makaylah Elliott chips in 1.92 per set. Cayce Bell paces the Braves in digs averaging 3.68 per set.

Mary McCarty leads CSU in kills per set averaging 2.82 per set while Frame leads the Lady Cougars in hitting percentage with a .294 mark.
