COLUMBUS – Thirty-seven Columbus State University current and former student-athletes and three CSU Athletics staff members received their degrees as part of the institution's 114^th commencement ceremonies this weekend inside the Frank G. Lumpkin Center.
 
Out of the 40 total, 37 Cougars received their bachelor's degrees, while the remaining three earned their master's degrees. Columbus State University graduated more than 1,000 students Friday and Saturday.

"The positive academic results from this semester reflect our expectations of representing CSU positively both in the classroom and on the field of competition," Director of Athletics Todd Reeser said. "It takes great focus and discipline to be a student-athlete and I congratulate them for a great year of academic and athletic success."
 
Thirteen of CSU's varsity sports were represented by at least one student-athlete in this weekend's ceremonies. The Cougar baseball team had the most graduates with eight, while the spirit, women's soccer and women's tennis programs graduated five apiece.
 
The Columbus State Spring Commencement is a celebration recognizing the culmination of years of work by students and faculty. It represents a time of pride for CSU's faculty and staff, as well as for students and their families.
