COLUMBUS – The fourth-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win over No. 24 Wingate on Monday. The nonconference match took place at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

Columbus State moved to 8-2 on the year with its second ranked victory over the last four days.

Things got rolling for the Cougars on Monday behind three doubles victories.

Second-ranked
KP Pannu and
Alvaro Regalado turned in an 8-4 victory over the 11
th-ranked duo in the country at first doubles.
Matei Avram and
Zach Whaanga were 8-6 victors at the second spot and
Shao-Yu Yu and
Arnold Kokulewski won 8-2 in the third position.

Singles play saw the Cougars win all six matches in straight sets.

Top-ranked Pannu got his second ranked win of the day, taking down the 31
st-ranked player in Division II 6-2, 7-6. Whaanga didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at second and Regalado was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at third singles.

Paul Sprengelmeijer won 6-3, 6-2 at fourth singles, with Kokulewski going 7-5, 6-2 for the win at fifth. Avram made it a clean sweep with a 7-5, 6-1 win at the sixth spot.

Columbus State will be back in action on Thursday with a home match against Southern Indiana. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
