COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University men's tennis team eased its way to an 8-1 victory over Southern Indiana on Thursday. The nonconference match was played at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

It was the third straight win for the Cougars, who pushed their record to 9-2 on the season.

Columbus State got the afternoon started with a pair of easy wins in doubles play.
Zach Whaanga and
Alvaro Regalado won 8-1 at second doubles, while
Shao-Yu Yu and
Matei Avram won by the same score at third.

Southern Indiana picked up its lone with of the day at the top spot, where
KP Pannu and
Arnold Kokulewski fell 9-8.
Â
The Cougars then rolled in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets.
Â
Pannu and Kokulewski bounced back in singles action with both winning 6-2, 6-2 at the first and third positions, respectively. Whaanga was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at second singles.

Avram dropped just one game in a victory at fourth singles, while
Paul Sprengelmeijer and
Jorge Vargas each turned in 6-3, 6-1 wins.

Columbus State's next match will come next Wednesday at home against Augusta. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
