COLUMBUS – With a 9-0 win over No. 23 Georgia College on Thursday, the third-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team captured its second consecutive Peach Belt Conference regular season title. The match was played at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

Columbus State (18-3, 9-0 PBC) won the regular season championship outright for the first time in program history after sharing the title in 2014 and 2017. The perfect conference mark is the first undefeated season in league play in the Cougars' history.

The Cougars rolled throughout the match on Thursday, starting with three doubles victories.

Zach Whaanga and
Alvaro Regalado battled for an 8-6 win in a battle of ranked teams at the top spot.
KP Pannu and
Matei Avram made easy work with an 8-3 victory at second and
Jorge Vargas and
Shao-Yu Yu took down third doubles 8-4.

CSU won all six singles matches in straight sets, with only one match featuring a tight set.

Pannu down the 20
th-ranked player in the country 6-3, 6-2 at first singles, while Whaanga cruised 6-0, 6-2 at two. Regalado worked for a 7-5 tough first set win before rolling 6-2 in the second set at third.

Paul Sprengelmeijer and Avram each won by 6-2, 6-0 scores at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Vargas finished off his opponent 6-0, 6-2 at sixth.

Columbus State ahs just one match remaining in the regular season, which will come Saturday against Hawaii Pacific. The match will be played at West Florida in Pensacola, Fla. and is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
