FLORENCE, S.C. – The third-ranked and top-seeded Columbus State University men's tennis team kept rolling on Friday, defeating eighth-seeded and No. 40 North Georgia 5-0 in the quarterfinals of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The tournament is being played at Francis Marion.

Columbus State (20-3) extended its winning streak to eight matches and will take on fifth-seeded and No. 25 Georgia College on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Cougars got the day started with a pair of easy victories at the top two doubles positions.
Zach Whaanga and
Alvaro Regalado won 8-2 at first doubles, while
KP Pannu and
Matei Avram took second doubles by the same tally.

Jorge Vargas and
Shao-Yu Yu trailed 7-4 at third doubles and faced match point. However, the CSU duo fought back to win five straight games for a 9-7 victory to give the Cougars the doubles sweep.

From there, it was a singles race to find the two victories needed to seal the match. Pannu was the first winner with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at first singles, followed by a 6-3, 6-3 win from Avram at fifth.

Columbus State was rolling all around, with all four of the unfinished matches featuring a Cougar with a first-set win.
