ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Trailing 3-1 at halftime, the fourth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team scored three unanswered second half goals for a 4-3 victory at Flagler on Wednesday.
The victory moves the Lady Cougars to 4-0-1 on the season and starts the Peach Belt Conference season off with a tough road victory. CSU is now perfect in 12 all-time matches against Flagler.
"I'm extremely proud of the way this group fought today," head coach
Jay Entlich said. "They believed throughout the game that they were going to win, and they worked until the very end to make that happen against a really good Flagler team."
The day got off to a rough start for the Lady Cougars, with Flagler (3-2-0, 1-1-0) netting a pair of goals in the first seven minutes. The Saints tucked away a rebound in the fourth minute and scored on a free kick in the seventh.
Olivia Jarrell cut the deficit in half in the 20
th minute, tapping home a pass from
Amanda Murphy in the center of the box.
However, Flagler answered back just 63 seconds later with its third goal of the day, this time on a shot from outside the box.
The match went to the half with the Lady Cougars down a pair, but CSU responded in the second half.
The first of three goals after the break came in the 51
st minute, with Jarrell sliding a pass to
Riley Clark who put the shot past the keeper for her fourth tally of the year.

Flo Spano deposited in the back of the net to level the score at three. Jarrell then found the game-winner five minutes later, dribbling down the left side of the field and taking it herself to give the Lady Cougars the victory in her hometown.
The St. Augustine native now has two multi-goal matches on the season and leads the team with 10 points.
Columbus State is back at home on Saturday for its first home match in nearly three weeks. The Lady Cougars will take on Lander at 3 p.m. on Military Appreciation Day at the Walden Soccer Complex.
