WINGATE, N.C. - The second-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team won for the second night in a row against a ranked opponent, taking down No. 5 Wingate 6-1. The match took place at the Wingate Tennis Complex.
The Cougars grabbed the doubles point to jump out in front with top-ranked doubles team

Alvaro Regalado giving Daniel Belsito and Josep Canyadell the 6-2 loss. At second doubles 15
th-ranked
KP Pannu and
Matei Avram followed up with a 6-4 win of their own. The lone loss in doubles for the Cougars was at third doubles with
Tommaso Schold and
Arnold Kokulewski falling 4-6.
Singles play provided some close matches as four the the six singles went to a third and deciding set. Top-ranked Pannu jumped in front 6-3, but then lost 3-6 before winning the final set 6-3. 27
th-ranked Whaanga grabbed another three set Cougar point winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 at the second position.

th-ranked Regalado and Avram were the two singles to finish in straight sets. Both Regalado and Avram grabbed their points at their respective positions with same score of 7-5, 6-2.
Despite losing the first set 3-6, Kokulewski came back to take the next two 7-6, 6-2 to grab another point for the Cougars. Schold fell in his singles match that went unfinished after the clinching point, 7-5, 4-6, 0-1.
The Cougars will remain on the road heading to Montgomery, Ala. to take on Auburn-Montgomery Wednesday, March 6. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
