DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The second-ranked Columbus State University men's tennis team hit the road and took down 14
th-ranked North Georgia 6-1 on Saturday. The Peach Belt Conference match took place at the UNG Tennis Complex.
It was a Cougar sweep on the doubles courts as they controlled the pace en route to the doubles point.
KP Pannu and
Zach Whaanga teamed up for the second time in a row winning at the top spot 6-4 over 33
rd-ranked Niklas Zielen and Jess Jones.
In second doubles it was
Arnold Kokulewski and
Matei Avram who took down their counterparts 7-6 while
Alvaro Regalado and
Fabien Asdrubal came out on top 6-4 giving the Cougars the doubles point.
The top two courts in singles play saw ranked opponents battling each other with top-ranked Pannu taking on 75
th-ranked Zielen. Having already beaten him in doubles, Pannu cruised his way to a 6-3, 6-0 point at the top singles spot. One court over at second it was 36
th-ranked Whaanga against 71
st-ranked Jones which ended up going to a third set. After a 2-6, 6-4 split in the first two sets, it was Jones who came away with the point for the Nighthawks taking Whaanga down 6-4.
Asdrubal was the only other court to go three sets as he pulled the 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 comeback to give the Cougars a point at third singles.
From there it was straight set triumphs for the Cougars on the fourth through sixth singles courts.

th-ranked Regalado won 6-2, 6-2 while Kokulewski came through with a 6-1, 6-2 scoreline for the Cougar point. Finally at sixth, it was
Tommaso Schold who grabbed another CSU point in a 6-0, 6-3 straight set win.
The Cougars will stay on the road traveling to Young Harris on Sunday, April 7. The match is scheduled to stat at 11:00 a.m.
